Hermann Hauser co-founded Amadeus Capital Partners in 1997 with Anne Glover. As an accomplished entrepreneur and venture capitalist, he has founded or co-founded numerous technology companies, including Acorn Computers (where ARM was spun out), Active Book Company, Virata, Net Products, NetChannel and Cambridge Network. He also served as a founder director for several companies including IQ (Bio) and IXI Limited.
His notable successes at Amadeus include CSR plc, Entropic Research Laboratory (acquired by Microsoft, 1999), Solexa (acquired by Illumina, 2007) and Icera (acquired by Nvidia, 2011). He currently serves as a non-executive director at XMOS and represents Amadeus at Graphcore.
Hermann holds an MA in Physics from Vienna University and a PhD in Physics from Cambridge. His numerous honors include fellowships in the Institute of Physics, Royal Academy of Engineering, Royal Society, BCS, and Royal Society of Chemistry. He has received honorary doctorates from six universities and was awarded a CBE in 2001 and an Honorary KBE in 2015 for contributions to engineering and industry.
Deep tech startups often fail to overcome the Valley of Death—the gap between early-stage funding and market traction where over 90% fail due to funding shortfalls. The composition and strength of the founding team determines determine whether a breakthrough startup survives this perilous stage or joins the long list of failed projects. Our presentation shows results from a unique dataset of 5,000 global deep tech startups and 11,500 founder profiles about the human capital of founding teams of deep tech startups.
